Unfortunately for Chile another devastating earthquake has destroyed much of the infrastructure in Chile's second largest city, Concepcion but the death toll has been in no way comparable close to Haiti's earthquake with over 200,000 people reported dead Chile's death dole is approximately 400 people as of today.

Santiago in Chile

Some of the major differences with this and Haiti is that the city Concepcion has a total of 200,000 something resident and majority of those people were sleeping when the quake hit them around 2 in the morning so most people were thrown from their bed and just experienced heavy shaking. Another major difference with Chile's earthquake is the fact that Chile has experience the largest earthquake known to man with a magnitude of 9.5 in the 1970's and since that the infrastructure in the city's and surrounding city's have been pretty modern so the majority of the damage done from this earthquake has been in the older architecture areas of damages to roads rather than the whole city collapsing.
